Operation Art In April 2006, in conjunction with Operation Art, the Hospital School, hosted an exciting event!
10 wonderful artworks were donated to the Children's Ward by school students, from Kindergarten to Year 10, for patients and their families to appreciate and enjoy. The artworks range from drawings and paintings to collage, photography, printmaking and computer graphics.
A special handover ceremony followed by afternoon tea was attended by the artists and their families, principals and teachers, Joanna Capon, Chairperson of Operation Art, Mary Bonner, General Manager of Royal North Shore Hospital, Felicity Hsu, Nursing Unit Manager (NUM) of the Children's Ward, various paediatricians and all the hospital school staff. It proved to be an exciting and memorable event.
We were lucky to have a special guest, Ben Quilty, artist and 3 times Archibald Prize finalist. He congratulated the young artists and encouraged them to continue with their artistic pursuits.
As each student handed over their artwork to Felicity and Ben, they were presented with a certificate.
The paintings now hang on the walls of the ward bringing great pleasure to the hospitalised children and their families.
